COMPETE FOR CASH PRIZE 〰️ SATURDAY MARCH 28 2026 〰️ 11 AM 〰️ MARJORIE LUKE THEATRE 〰️

Central Coast baristas go head-to-head in a live latte art battle for $500, serious bragging rights, and a feature in the Santa Barbara Independent.

The Latte Art Throwdown is a fast-paced, bracket-style competition where baristas compete in front of a live audience, pouring their best designs under pressure. Competitors advance through elimination rounds until one final winner is crowned.

In each round, two baristas pour their designs at the same time. Judges compare the cups and select the stronger pour to move forward in the bracket.

Cup Specifications
Competitors will pour into 12 oz latte cups prepared with a double shot of espresso. Milk will be steamed fresh for each round, and baristas will pour simultaneously for judging.

Judging Criteria

⭕️ Symmetry & Balance - Is the design centered and well proportioned?

⭕️ Contrast & Clarity - Strong contrast between crema and milk with clear lines.

⭕️ Definition & Line Quality - Clean edges, no wobbles, no blurring.

⭕️ Complexity & Difficulty - More advanced patterns score higher when executed cleanly.

⭕️ Milk Texture & Integration - Proper microfoam with a glossy, bubble-free texture.

⭕️ Overall Visual Impact - The “wow” factor.
